A brief description of the race
The start is given at Lake Botomos for both races and follows the same route for the first kilometres.
The course ascends to the forest, through the impressive gorge of Ag.Nikolaos or Gafaris & passes from the first aid station at km 2.3. After roughly 6km we reach the heart of the Forest of Rouvas and the chapel of Agios Ioannis. At this point the central station for both races is located (6th km).
Afterwards the two races separate. The 11k race moves towards the river, and afterwards changes direction back to the gorge of Gafaris and to the finish at Votomos Lake after passing the 3rd aid station (same as the 1st) at km 8.8.
The 25km route ascents towards the dirt road and 3rd aid station at "Diplori". We continue on the dirt road with altitude near 1400 metres.
After 4.0 km we reach the chapel of "Timios Stauros" (12.5 Km) central station with water, snak, isotonic drink,energy gel etc.
Also here there is a time-limit-cut (3 hours & 30min).
Now we descend the beautiful trail that leads us to location "Pigadi" (15th Km) we cross the river once more and follow the course deep in the heart of the forest that leads us to washed out dirt road. 1.0 Km further we find the “Dio Prinoi” aid station (17th Km) and the chapel of Agios Archangelos & Agia Eyfrosyni.
From this place the route is mostly downhill, open and very fast, at first traversing the ridge of hill, leading us again to the E4 path, passing from Agios Ioannis (19th Km) chapel and central station.
Leaving the station we are directed to Zaros gorge with the direction of Lake Votomos. The last aid station at 22nd km follows short descend and the finish at the beautiful lake .
